"One can only assume they have something to hide"

Apologies for the lack of posts recently! Since we last met, the Guardian reported SG taking the Health Secretary to task over his department's bed blocking figures.
But the Liberal Democrat spokeswoman for older people, Sandra Gidley, today accused the Department of Health (DoH) of manipulating the figures, which showed a reduction of 4,170 delayed discharges between September 2001 and March this year, from 7,065 to 2,895.

The MP for Romsey said that the figures were flawed because they no longer took account of bed blocking in community hospitals.
"So the government isn't being forthright about the problem and one can only assume they have something to hide."
